In Distillate, Joshua de Bliquy explores what remains when the layers of experience are drawn inward. The essence of identity distilled from thought, feeling, memory and perception.

A luminous central figure emerges against a deep atmospheric field, while another face appears behind her, partially concealed within the composition. The two presences create a tension between the individual self and the many influences that exist behind it. Around them, abstract forms and circular motifs suggest an unseen realm extending beyond the physical figure.

The title Distillate offers a compelling way into de Bliquy’s metaphysical language. Rather than presenting the invisible as something separate from everyday existence, the work suggests that our inner worlds are continually refined through experience.
