“Hurricanes” by Liffey Joy captures the beauty of emotional chaos through layered ink, wine, and pigment—an expressive meditation on letting go.
Medium: Acrylic, ink, wine, potassium permanganate & gold pigment on canvas
Size: 50.5cm x 76cm x 3.5cm
This piece is all about letting go. Hurricanes came together slowly, layer by layer, with paint and ink doing their own thing: running, blending, resisting. Making it felt a bit like watching a storm roll in: unpredictable, wild, and somehow beautiful. I wasn’t trying to paint something specific, just to follow a feeling-that messy mix of chaos and movement. The colours ended up reflecting that emotional storm too. It’s not really about a hurricane. It’s more like I became one while making it.
